We use a wide variety of books. Children are able to select picture books, poetry books, fiction and non-fiction. Teachers keep detailed records of children's reading development.

We operate a Home/School scheme so children can take books home regularly, since parents also play an important part in their children's reading development. It is helpful for parents and teachers to form a close partnership so that the children can see that we are working together for their benefit

From very early stages, they make marks on paper and 'read' the messages they have written.

We encourage children to write down their thoughts freely whilst supporting their development. Children will be involved in a wide range of writing activities while thy are at Jubilee School.
